Symone kissed the floor! ;(

After 4 and a half years Symone hit the floor :(
Relax, she is ok and so am I. No big harm done!

I was coming home from work last friday under a very heavy rain and needed to break in this spot (old Google Street View image).

At a normal speed and straight (no curving), break, break, break, no more than 20kms/hour and suddenly the front wheel slides. Probably due to lots of accidents this area has lots of oil on the asphalt, and with the heavy rain it was a dangerous mix.

Symone had some damage but no biggie - luckily I didn't hurt myself, just a small itch on one hand.

New Sym GTS 125 - 2012 Model

Did Symone just became obsolete?!?

Naah! She still rides and rocks!

This new model is nice, but not gonna change my bike now, with the recession and all...

Symone performance - speed/consumption

This is my first ever mototcycle, as I stated before in previous posts, so I've no terms of comparison.

Now what I can say is that I'm very satisfied with it, but... I trully sense that some other maxi-scooter are way better in terms of motor (speed/performance/consumption).

I've been talking to other maxi-scooter owners and they say that their machines spend less gas than mine.
I'm doing 1 deposit (12lts) to make ~280kms which gives more than 4,2lts/100km :(
I know that I'm a heavy guy, and that I don't perform a conservative drive (I speed up downhill a lot) but at this time I really thought that it would have a better consumption... :(

On the way home I always do this big hill on the highway and other 125 scooters always pass me by... all other brands seem to have more "power", even 125 with two people on it :(

Yesterday was the first time EVER I've pass a scooter on the hill... It was a guy bigger that me with an Sym GTS 125 Evo just like my Symone :)

Symone's new Case :)

Bought a new Case for my Symone :)

In the stand where I bought the bike they didn't have the support I wanted, or didn't try enough to satisfy a customer who requested at least 3 times for a solution to mount a case, I even have sent some pics of what I wanted by email but they don't answer mails, so old fashion company :(

The problem is that the official case support is simple UGLY AS HELL... (my opinion)
See a forum thread about it here.

I've seen some Sym's GTS on the road with a support different from those ugly ones, and for my fortune one bike had a sticker of the stand so I searched online and sent them an email at a friday night.
Next morning at 10 they called me on my mobile and gave me all info and prices, in the next Saturday I went there and the assistance was first class.

Get the product. Great assistance. Nice price.
I recommend: http://www.cascaisway.pt/

Here are some photos of Symone with the new case and support from GIVI...

95 Octanes

"When the “pointer” is below “E” position, the fuel indicator flashes, and the fuel warning indicator(orange) will come on. It means there is only approximately 1.2 liter of fuel left in the tank. Refuel octane 92/95/98 unleaded gasoline immediately."
from the Owners Manual

I use 95 octane gasoline [from GALP - I've a fleetcard :) ]...

I've read a lot about this issue, but since day one I've been using the same gasoline and I think my Symone is ok with it :)

Enough is enough! Safety first...

I was really tired and upset of this "sideview" mirrors. I couldn't see anything behind me for crying out loud...

You can say whatever you want but I think this solution works just perfectly :)

Total cost: 8€ (4€ each), they turn 360ยบ, so you can adjust to better suit your needs...

Now I can see, now I have rearview mirrors... :)
Safety first!

Speed it up!

I still drive with some fear, I'm still a rookie... :)

But...for those who need to know, the maximum speed on straight road is ~100kms/h.
In the highway, downhill, with no cars and with care, it goes fast as ~120kms/h.
On the same higway, uphill, goes as fast as 70kms/h :(

Never drove with a passenger... always me on Symone alone...

I don't need much speed on traffic jams, the speed I need is "not stopped, on the move" :)

New eye - Xenon

So, has I said in a previous post, there's a space for the fog lights but they don't came with 125 version. So in the revision I ask to mount them.

The shop owner told me that for the same price I could mount a medium xenon light that I will use more that the fog lights. So I decided to kit my Symone with a new eye.

Great light now. A lot more luminous.
I believe that the others see me well too, because they move out of the way more often than before :)

1st revision / 1000kms

So, has plan, took Symone for it's 1000kms revision...
It was free because it was negotiated in the buying process, the price would be 27 euros thou.
The next one will be at 6000kms, then 12000kms, and so on...

The Sym GTS 125 Evo as an alarm for revision set to 3000kms, but the oil is supposed to hold for the 6000kms.

I ask for the average price on the next revision and the owner of the bike shop told me it will be something about 60euros.

Nice :)
